About Maldives

Maldives is one of the beautiful island on the globe .It is the group of atolls in the Indian Ocean about 671 km southwest of Sri Lanka. Its 1,190 coral islets stretch over an area of around 90,000 sq km.Maldives has deep blue seas, turquoise reefs, white sandy beaches and palm trees.

Ninety-nine percent of the Maldives is made up of sea. Most of the part of Maldives is for Tourism and agriculture.Now a Days tourism is the largest economic industry on this islands, overtaking established fishing business.Fishing is part of the Indian Ocean culture, heritage and for many in the islands, forms a vital livelihood .Maldives is by far the lowest country on earth With an average ground level of 1,5m above sea level.

In ancient times, the beautiful white shores of the Maldives welcomed lost travelers. Still welcoming, these shores remain, providing a tranquil haven for visitors. The first resort was built in 1972, with the tourism industry flourishing since then. Each resort enjoys its own island thus ensuring that the Maldives are never crowded and the peaceful environment can be experienced by all who visit.

Water surrounding the islands are clear, calm and exceptionally beautiful.The white sand and shallow lagoons mean sunshine reflects off the seabed, creating pools that are a warm, brilliant turquoise. This may also be a reason why Maldives are highly appealing to families, with children and for couples on their Honeymoon.

Maldives is not much popular for shopping.There are few local markets in which some local goods are only available such as homemade sweets and pickles.Handicrafts are also found here, brought in from all around the islands. Luxury goods are duty free, which makes jewellery, watches and cosmetics competitively priced.

Climate: Climate is influenced by monsoons, although bright sunny weather with a sea breeze can be mostly expected with 30°C all year round Sea temperature of 22°C to 28°C.

Religion: South Indian, Sinhalese and Arab influences
