Fiji consists of 332 islands in the southwest Pacific Ocean about 1,960 mi (3,152 km) from Sydney, Australia. About 110 of these islands are inhabited. The two largest are Viti Levu (4,109 sq mi; 10,642 sq km) and Vanua Levu (2,242 sq mi; 5,807 sq km).

Fiji is an independent country lying on the border between the Polynesian and Melanesian regions of the Pacific. Fiji is the most populous Pacific island country and hosts a number of regional and international organizations. Tourism dollars are Fiji's main source of income, followed by the sugar and garment industries. It's also rich in gold, coconut oil, seafood and lumber.

Fiji is made up of 332 islands and only 110 are inhabited. Fiji is one of the most developed Pacific Islands and has a strong economy based on mineral extraction and agriculture. Fiji is also a popular tourist destination because of its tropical landscape and it is fairly easy to get to from the western United States and Australia . Its capital, Suva, is four and a half hours flying time north-east of Sydney.
