Best time to visit Maldives - Islands

The Maldives has a tropical climate with two seasons dry season (north-east monsoon) and wet season (south-west monsoon), and a great deal of sunshine year-round. Day time temperatures is around 31 degrees Celsius and at night time, hits a low of about 23 degrees Celsius.

Monsoons:The dry north-east monsoon starts from December and last till March, and the wet south-west monsoon starts from May and last till November, with more strong winds and rain. April is a transitional period noted for clear water and heat. The temperature remains remarkably consistent at around 30°C.

Best period to visit Maldives :

In dry monsoon i.e. from December to April there is little rain and lowest humidity and is one of the best time to visit Maldives which makes high season from the month of December to April.This period is best to visit eastern as well as western side of Maldives.

Mid-December to early January comes at even more of a premium due to festivals celebrated in Maldives like Christmas and New Year and prices are even higher in all resorts.February to April is the hottest period and resorts are almost all operating at capacity during this period.Easter and the Italian holiday week in August also attract peak prices at most resorts, especially the Italian-oriented ones.

May to November is the period when storms and rain are more likely. Climate is still warm, but skies can be cloudy with highest humidity . This is the season, when fewer people visit the place and lower prices in almost all resorts, with the exception of August.It is one of the better time to visit western past of the atoll.

The surfing season runs from March to October, which is great as this is when resorts are cheapest. There is no bad time to visit the Maldives, although if you’re interested in spending time in Male’ or any other inhabited islands, It is advisable to avoid Ramazan time as almost 99% of Maldives population follow Islam Religion so restaurants are closed and people are not always at their most receptive.
